As Israel continues its offensive on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, it shelled the United Nation headquarters. Apparently U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon is not too pleased with that.
The brutal and bloody fighting in Gaza continues. As Israeli forces continue its assault on Gaza, the militant Islamic group Hamas continues its rocket attacks onto Israeli soil. So far, it seems that Israel’s latest actions have brought forth anger from the United Nations.
One of the places shelled today in Gaza was the UN headquarters. It was a warehouse with food and supplies for Palestinian refugees. Unfortunately, the food and supplies have gone up into flames.
Ban wanted an “explanation.”
In a sense, it feels like one of those moments on the “I Love Lucy” show. In a situation like this, Ricky would go: “Lucy, you got some explaining to do.” In this regard, it would be like this: “Olmert, you got some explaining to do.”
It is absolutely true that we were attacked from that place, but the consequences are very sad and we apologize for it,” said Israeli PM Ehud Olmert.
For US President-Elect Barack Obama, the fighting in Gaza will prove to be one of his biggest international challenges when he officially takes office on January 20. He will need to bring his S+ game.
In the case of the UN, it held an emergency meeting in regards to Israel. Right now, the UN is debating on what to do in regards to fighting in Gaza. So far, Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann is throwing down with Israeli diplomat Ilan Fluss and Israeli’s UN Ambassador Gabriela Shalev.
