Haile Gebrselassie is in Dubai for tomorrow's Dubai Marathon. He is not only prepared to win the run but to make himself $1 million richer if he breaks the world record.
Being one of the greatest athletes ever, the 'Ethiopian Emperor' revealed his financial blow-busting belief that a good jog can relieve everyone of their current financial stress. He said, "I am a businessman as well as a runner and so know all about the financial troubles. But I avoid all the stress and problems by running."
Dubai Marathon is to be held on Jan. 16, 2009 at the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi along Jumeirah Beach Road. This marathon with $2 million cash prizes is known to be the world's richest marathon.
Gebrselassie holds a total of 26 world records, the latest of which was his 2hrs, 3 mins 59 secs marathon world record in Berlin last September. He failed to break the record in last year's event when his pacemakers set off too quickly in the early stages. However, Gebrsealssie is confident he has it all worked out this time.
As many as 14 athletes, who have run below 2hrs 10 mins, will be running alongside the Ethiopian making a very strong field for tomorrow's event.
