A pilot, reportedly interested in faking his death, now faces criminal charges. He was charged with making a false distress call as well as faking his death.
A pilot who parachuted out of his plane reportedly to avoid his legal hassles is now facing a criminal charge. The pilot, Mr. Marcus Schrenker, is recovering in a north Florida hospital after he slashed his wrists. He was charged with making false distress call as well as willful crashing of the plane. According to detailed reports, the charges were filed in a U.S. District Court situated in Pensacola, Florida. The reports further state that, if held guilty the charges can carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and hefty fine of $5,000. The reports further stated that another $36,000 rescue effort could be added, if held guilty.
Schrenker, aged 38 years, is a money manager from Indiana. The reports suggested that he was already wanted there on various financial fraud charges that alleged that he misled consumers that invested in various of his wealth management companies. It has been reported that he had even misappropriated hundreds of thousands of dollars. While flying, it was reported, that he had been alone. The plane took off for Florida on Sunday from a place called Anderson, Indiana. Further investigation revealed that as the plane flew over Alabama, Schrenker made a fake distress call while putting the plane on autopilot mode and then parachuted out. Few minutes later the plane crashed in a housing development situated in the northwestern city of Milton in Florida.
