Hundreds of civilians in Gaza were moved to a safer place but later bombed by Israel forces that resulted in the killing of 30 civilians, one third of them were children.
About 30 civilians were killed the other day after Israeli troops bombed the place where they were evacuated. It could not be ascertained if the bombing was a result of miscalculation or a missed target or if the attack was done on purpose.
Mail Online reports: ‘Israel troops were accused yesterday of evacuating Palestinian civilians to a house in Gaza and then shelling it 24 hours later’.
‘At least 30 people died and dozens were injured in the incident which could prompt a war crime investigation’
‘The United Nations said that half the dead were children. Witnesses told the staff 110 civilian had taken shelter in the building when it was hit last Sunday’.
Israel has been under severe criticism from the international community about its continued attacks on civilian targets which had resulted in the death toll of more than 700 people, about one third them were children.
The International Red Cross had been complaining about the seemingly uncooperative stance by Israeli authorities on the organization’s efforts in helping the war victims in Gaza. ‘This is a shocking incident, said Pierre Wettach, Red Cross Regional Head, after seeing it has found four starving children at the house, clinging to the corpses of their dead mothers’
Even the ground crew of the United Nations was not spared by Israel’s ground and air attacks as some of its transport equipment used in bringing food, medicine and other forms of aid were hit which resulted in the death of one of its ground staff.
Israel issued a statement that it will investigate the bombing incident that killed the 30 civilians that which were earlier evacuated.
On the side of Israel, it was reported that 10 soldiers died and three civilians have been killed by rockets fired from Hamas territory.
In the meantime, US President-elect Barack Obama was reported to have considered talking to Hamas after he is sworn into office in an effort to diffuse the explosive situation.
In another development, the United Nations have passed a resolution calling for immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas but both sides seem to have ignored the resolution as they continue to launch air and ground assault on its respective targets.
Today is day 15 and fighting between Israel and Hamas continues.
