The case of a mother killing her child or children is always front page news. It is considered so against the social mores that people seem fascinated by these stories when they happen.
The
Orlando Sentinel has a new chapter in this saga, reporting today that local sources close to the Caylee Anthony case state that there is overwhelming evidence that her mother, Casey Anthony, killed her.
Since the summer and the search for Caylee, people around the country have watched news broadcasts and updates, pleas from the grandparents, and discussion of the mother’s own problems from jail, as the case of first a missing child, and then a dead child as discovered last month began to unfold. Conjecture continues with this latest information.
Instead of a grief-stricken parent, authorities relate a narrative that Anthony, 22, who remains jailed on first-degree murder charges for her toddler’s death, killed the child. Sources have also said that investigators have established a time of death using the evidence provided by forensic botanists and entomologists. These experts examined the terrain and insect growth to determine the time frames to help scientists establish scientific evidence concerning Caylee Anthony’s time of death. They believe that Anthony dumped her daughter’s body into the wooded area near her grandparents home about June 18 and that the child had been in her mother’s trunk two days before it was dumped in the woods.
Hair from Anthony’s trunk is said to match Caylee’s remains. The experts have also examined the duct tape around Caylee’s skull, the chloroform that was detected in the trunk and information from Anthony’s cell phone to determine other details related to the case.
The same sources that provided these updates have declared that the manner of Caylee’s death may not be established, but that it is likely Anthony will be found guilty of the child’s murder based upon reasonably definitive evidence.
This Thursday Anthony was taken before a judge to attend a hearing concerning autopsy photos of her child after several months of the jailed mother not being seen.
Forensic evidence, as discussed in a related article, is part of the ongoing determination for cases like this. Already high profile experts have been called in for the defense, including noted expert Dr. Henry Lee. It is likely, as these sources maintain, that Anthony will need a vigorous defense because of the information that has so far been established.
Anthony’s trial is scheduled for later this month.
