article imageMan Threatens to Bomb LA Bound Jet

By Scott Campbell     Jan 7, 2009 in Crime
A man who claimed to have a bomb on board a passenger jet bound for LA was tackled to the ground by passengers after lunging at the aircraft's door.
The Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta was landing at Los Angeles International Airport when the man allegedly stated that he had a bomb, said FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller. She said no bomb was found but his bags and the plane were searched.
The man also lunged for the door and attempted to assault a flight attendant.
The motive for the alleged threat was not immediately clear, Eimiller said. The man, who has not been arrested, was being questioned by the FBI and airport police.
The Los-Angeles bound plane had 271 passengers on board.
