As Israel continues its offensive into the Gaza Strip, the international condemnation continues. Vietnam has given forth its condemnation.
On New Year’s Eve of 2007, it was announced that Vietnam would be given a two-year trial membership on the United Nations Security Council. It would be to see is Vietnam is able to play a bigger role in the international community. This is a challenge from Vietnam as it has been isolated from the international scene.
Perhaps this will be one of Vietnam’s biggest challenges. The Gaza offensive by Israel could prove to be a test to see whether or not Vietnam is ready to help tackle things on a global scale. So far, it is already one year into its two-year trial membership.
So far, Vietnam has given forth its condemnation of the Israeli offensive on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. The UN Security Council held an urgent meeting upon the start of the land offensive.
Ambassador Le Luong Minh, the diplomat to the UNSC asked all to facilitate emergency humanitarian aid. Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Dung also added that Israeli needs to stop using excessive force.
