As the bi-lateral relation of India and Pakistan saw a tensed period the cultural bonds as well take drastic beating. Indian films, post 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, are uncertain to get screened in Pakistan.
Mumbai terror attack of 26/11 is taking its' effect on almost all possible interaction between India and Pakistan. In a recent development, the Indian films are reportedly to be banned in Pakistan. If the reports are to be held true, then not only the revenue that the Indian films generated but also an effective interaction between the two countries in a macro level will be lost.
Even in the last year itself, as pointed out by the industry experts, no less than 16 Indian films were screened in Pakistan.
However, the Pakistani authorities after India's blame on Pakistan in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, remain hell-bent to ban the Indian films. According to sources close to the Pakistani film industry the move will bring back the troubled period as Indian films did offer the industry a 'golden phase' by generating huge revenues while letting themselves get screened in Pakistan.
When contacted Pakistan Censor Board chairperson Mr. Malik Shahnawaz Noon said that the board was planning to ban Indian films as they were supposedly destroying the local film industry. Mr. Noon added further that he personally believed that Indian films should not be screened in Pakistan. He affirmed that the authorities were working to put a ban on Indian films.
