In yet another suspected US missile strike at least 5 Taliban militants lost their lives. The incident took place in northwestern part of Pakistan.
At least 5 suspected Taliban militants were killed in missile strike suspected to be fired from a US base. The region is reportedly a stronghold for suspected Taliban militants and densely populated with tribal warlords. While the Pakistani officials continued protesting such attacks in their soil the missile strike by US and NATO forces have continued in a major way to destabilize the Taiban and Al-Qaida. The region where the missiles struck is situated alongside the border with Afghanistan and hence according to many US and NATO commanders, a hotbed of militancy. The officials have stated that the attack was most probably launched from a CIA drone whose existence in the region has been causing a tensed phase of relationship between Pakistan and US.
According to local authorities, an unmanned CIA aircraft fired no less three 3 missiles in the Karikot area situated in South Waziristan. Incidentally, this has been the place where only 10 days ago 8 suspected Taliban militants were killed in a missile strike by a suspected US drone. Police later clarified that one of the missiles fired by drones struck a vehicle and thereby killing five passengers inside.
Though, the NATO and US forces identified them as Taliban militants, according to local population they were ordinary civilians.
