The Detroit Lions bowed to the Green Bay Packers Sunday in the season finale guaranteeing their place in NFL history among the worse of the worst.
There was little hope for the beleaguered Detroit franchise in its match up against the mediocre Packers at Lambeau field, not only have they failed to mount a single win this year but are historically poor on the road.
The first started off with two two scores by the Packers, putting the Lions behind 14-0 before they responded in the second quarter with a score of their own on a 9 yard TD pass to Calvin Johnson finishing the half down a score. The Lions managed to tie the contest in the third quarter after a second TD pass to Johnson from quarterback Dan Orlovsky but the comeback was short-lived as the Packers responded with 10 straight points including a 71 yard TD pass from Packer quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who replaced Brent Favre this season, to veteran Donald Driver. The score came in the 4th quarter with 7:16 left on the clock and put the game out of reach for the lowly Lions who fell 31-21
The loss means the Lions will finish with a dismal 0-16 regular season record, the worst in NFL history, securing their place in the football hall of shame. The infamous milestone now achieved, Lions fans can now look forward to an off season that may produce some serious changes from the head office all the way down to coaching staff and individual players.
