Ill. Gov Blagojevich: I'm Not Going Down Without A Fight

Despite the odds against him, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has said that he is not going to step down from office. He is definitely fighting tooth and nail over this.

Today, the embattled Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has made it clear that he will not step down from office. Apparently, Blagojevich has every intention of fighting tooth and nail until the bitter end. Blagojevich is charged for corruption in regards to selling a U.S. Senate seat vacated by U.S. Democratic President-Elect Barack Obama. Obama resigned from the Senate in order to make the transition from the George W. Bush administration to his administration. So far, there is no evidence to suggest that Obama had anything to do with the corruption case. Even Obama had told Blagojevich to step down from office. Still, Blagojevich has refused. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan had even approached the Supreme Court to have Blagojevich’s powers stripped. The request was denied. Blagojevich had said: “I will fight. I will fight. I will fight until I take my last breath. I have done nothing wrong.” “I’m not going to quit a job the people hired me to do because of false accusations and a political lynch mob,” he added. Blagojevich affirms that he is not guilty of doing anything wrong or illegal. While he made it clear that that the fight is not over, there is another dilemma: money. So far, Blagojevich has been piling up lawyer bills. It is seriously sucking out his funds. Madigan denied the request that the state of Illinois pay for Blagojevich’s defense. There is also the possibility that Blagojevich will not be able to use money from his campaign fund. Blagojevich will have to finance his own defense with his own dime. But, how much cash can Blagojevich afford to spare?
