article imageFamily angry with supermarket for refusing to put son's name 'Adolf Hitler' on cake

By Chris V. Thangham     Dec 15, 2008 in Lifestyle
ShopRite supermarket refused to put the name “Adolf Hitler Campbell” on a three-year-old's birthday cake. Instead, the store offered the family a bigger cake with no name.
Heath and Deborah Campbell have three children named JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell and Adolf Hitler Campbell.
Adolf Hitler Campbell is celebrating his birthday today and the Campbells wanted a cake made from the local ShopRite supermarket.
But the ShopRite supermarket refused to put the three-year-old’s name in the cake because they thought it was inappropriate.
Karen Meleta, ShopRite’s spokeswoman told LehighValleyLive.com:
We believe the request to inscribe a birthday wish to Adolf Hitler is inappropriate.
The ShopRite offered them to make a cake with enough room for the Campbells to fill out their son’s name later but they refused the offer.
The Campbells apparently have done this before at Wal-Mart, which didn’t seem to object this name.
Deborah Campbell told LehighValleyLive.com:
ShopRite can't even make a cake for a 3-year-old...That's sad.
Do you agree with ShopRite’s decision? Even though I hate Adolf Hitler, unless there is a specific federal law or state law against this name or any other name, ShopRite shouldn’t refuse making this cake.
