The American Film Institute released its annual Top 10 Movies list for the year 2008 today with Dark Knight, Milk, and The Wrestler heading the list.
AFI provides the top 10 movies list every year and most of them compete for the Golden Globe and Academy Awards. Today, they listed the top 10 movies for 2008 and will honor them in a special luncheon event on January 9, 2009.
This year they chose the following list of movies of 2008, in no particular order:
The Dark Knight, Milk, The Wrestler, Wall-E, Gran Torino, Iron Man, Frozen River, Wendy and Lucy, Frost/Nixon and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Most of the movies in this list have already been nominated in Golden Globes earlier last week and many in the list can be expected to dominate the Oscars nominations early next year.
AFI also released a top 10 list for TV shows for 2008 and they are the following:
Breaking Bad, In Treatment, John Adams, Life, Lost, Mad Men, The Office, Recount, The Shield and The Wire.
Missing on this list are popular shows such as “Dexter” and “House”.
The top-10 lists are chosen by two 13-member panels, one panel for each list.
