When he takes over the "Late Night" show in March, Jimmy Fallon will be polishing the show with a new youth-oriented shine: he debuted a daily video blog and gave viewers a sneak peek into his house band. Read on to find out what popular band NBC chose.
Digital Journal -- Jimmy Fallon isn't content to quietly enter the late-night arena when he takes over the Late Night Show from Conan O'Brien. The former Saturday Night Live star is catering to the Web generation by producing a video blog (or vlog) on his website. An ad for Dove soap pre-rolls the first clip.
In the clip, Fallon said the show will be come from Studio 6B at Rockefeller Center, across the hall from where Conan O'Brien currently tapes "Late Night." Studio 6B is known as the home set for legendary stars such as Johnny Carson and Jack Paar.
Fallon will be posting new entries to this vlog every day at 12:30 am ET, he promised.
But inquiring minds were hungry to know which house band will front the new Late Night show. At the end of the clip, Fallon quickly said, "One thing we definitely do have is the greatest hosue band ever...Let me introduce you to the greatest band in late night...The Roots!" And when Fallon moved out of the frame, the members of The Roots began playing their hit single "Here I Come."
It looks like The Roots will be complementing Fallon on stage in March 2009. Do you think it's a good fit? Will the banter between Fallon and the hip-hop group work well live?
