DJ contributor and Reporter Stephen Dohnberg will be a guest on CFRB 1010, Sun Dec 7 at 8 pm w/ Sgt's Chiroux & Kokesh, discussing Iraq Vets Against the War, Nassau County PD, Protest Charges, Civil Cases, Deployment Issues; as much as an hour will allow.
Toronto, Ontario - Since the events were first posted at Digital Journal as they happened, DJ readers and contributors might be interested in hearing mainstream media give an airing to the events of Oct. 15, 2008 at the final Presidential Debate at Hofstra University, NY.
Reporter Stephen Dohnberg will join Iraq Vets Against the War members Sgt Matthis Chiroux (Army) and Sgt Adam Kokesh (Marines), on CFRB AM 1010’s ‘Sunday Nights With Liana and Steven Kerzner’ on Sun. Dec. 7, 8 - 9 pm EDT.
Steven and Liana Kerzner are best known for their previous stint on Much Music and CityTV's 'Ed the Sock's Night Party', running for almost 16 years. It's the most successful run know for celebrity hosiery.
The Kerzners have capitalized on the change of venue to pursue their social and political interests. Steven Kerzner was a candidate for the Progressive Conservative Party in 1990. Liana K has a passion for gaming, technology, as well as academia.
For those that have not followed the IVAW case as it has been reported on DigitalJournal.com, you can review Dohnberg's submissions.
Though his coverage of the IVAW actions this summer started with the week of the Democratic National Convention, the reporting on IVAW's protest at Hofstra University began days prior to Oct 15. Dohnberg spoke to Sgt Chiroux and other IVAW members and protestors moments after they were released from custody on "Disorderly Conduct" charges. The charges were laid by Nassau County PD, NY.

Another component to the story is Dohnberg's use of new media platforms and tech tools to cover the events. It's a simple fact of the reporting of these events, however it's a discussion for another time and day and outlet.
The Digital Journal headlines follow in chronological order:
Iraq War Vets Plan to Crash Presidential Debate, Demand Face Time to Ask Question
Nassau County D.A. Dismisses Charges Against Hempstead 15, Civil Case Continues
Obama, McCain Rebuff Veterans, Protesters Arrested During McCain's 'Last Chance'
Final Presidential Debate Protester-Veterans Face 15 Separate Trial Dates For Action
The charges have since been dropped, but a civil case ensues surrounding the injury of IVAW member Sgt. Nick Morgan. Sgt. Chiroux also now faces prosecution from the Army because of his refusal to redeploy to Iraq. Chiroux was honurably discharged in 2007 after serving for 5 years in Afghanistan, Phillipines, Germany, and other deployments.
