This is about the unfolding of the "Dream Match" between popular boxers Oscar de la Hoya and Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada
In a few minutes, the most talked about sports event in the Philippines and in the United States unfolds with both camps predicting a knock.
Latest news from Las Vegas in connection with the weigh-in ceremonies show that Pacquiao is 3 lbs lighter than de la Hoya at 142 pounds. Oscar de la Hoya registered 145 pounds in the scale.
Both camps predict a knock out for their fighters. Bob Arum who is co-promoting the fight with Golden Boy promotions said he sensed something with the way de la Hoya looked. “I don’t know if its wishful thinking or I am seeing things that I shouldn’t be seeing, but Oscar looked drawn”. Arum said.” If Oscar comes in more than 155 pounds, he is going to be dead because he will be puting too much weight and that makes him vulnerable to body shots”.
On the other hand, another great boxer, Bernard Hopkins said, “This is one of the greatest fights ever and Oscar is going to knock Manny out in the seventh or eighth round”
Another boxing personality, Emmanuel Steward, who once trained de la Hoya praised Pacquiao power punches and speed but he still goes for de la Hoya. He said. Manny punches with full power from first round to the 12th round. Most punchers like Tyson get tired after the first few rounds. Manny is going to be punching at full speed and if Oscar tires like he does in all his big fights, Manny could knock him out”.
In the meantime, Freddie Roach expressed utmost confidence in Manny Pacquiao saying that “he is supremely talented , so good that many in boxing have given him a mythical title of the best pound- for- pound fighter in the game. “ I go through scenarios before I go to bed every night. I can’t sleep until I come up with the right ending. And it always ends with Manny knocking him out.
The Pacquiao-de la Hoya boxing fight has been tagged as the “great mismatch” because of the marked advantages of Oscar de la Hoya in terms of height, weight and reach. Boxing fans all over the world are worried that de la Hoya could inflict so much pain and damage to Pacquiao although most boxing experts do not agree saying that Pacquiao is one talented boxer who will use his known exeptional skills to offset the physical superiority of de la Hoya.
