New Species of Pterosaur Called The 'Lacusovagus' Discovered

So far, a new discovery in Brazil sheds light about how little we know about the evolutionary history of prehistoric creatures.

Quite some time ago, there was a discovery in the northern part of East Brazil. For paleontologists, this area is considered to be a “gold mine” at best. This is due to the location being rich in fossils. And these fossils have been greatly preserved. Upon its discovery, it was placed in a German museum. The discovery was made in the Crato Formation. According to scientists, this fossil represents a new genus of the flying pterosaur. It was identified by Mark Witton of the University of Portsmouth. So far, it is revealed that this pterosaur has a body bigger than your typical cars. However, scientists were surprised that this fossil was discovered in Brazil. One could ask: Why is this surprising? This pterosaur was of the toothless kind. So far, there had been no discoveries of such species outside of China until now. This is the first time that such a species has been discovered outside of China. At the same time, Brazil is quite a long way away from China. Witton had the honor of giving it a new name. He called it the “Lacusovagus.” That is defined as the “lake wanderer.” A discovery has led to the discovery of a new genus of pterosaur. This Lacusovagus can be added to the list of prehistoric beasts let alone pterosaurs. One could say, a monster truck has nothing on the Lacusovagus.
