President Bush finally admitted that he is sorry for the economy crisis. He also admitted that he was unprepared for the war in Iraq.
Bush has so far evaded his responsibilities on the economy issue and recently said in January the financial markets are “
strong and solid” just months before the financial market collapsed. Now he finally apologized for the economic crisis in an interview with ABC News tonight.
In the interview he told
ABC News:
I'm sorry it's happening, of course... Obviously I don't like the idea of people losing jobs, or being worried about their 401(k)s. On the other hand, the American people got to know that we will safeguard the system. I mean, we're in. And if we need to be in more, we will.
How is he going to safeguard the system when the system has collapsed already? He is reassuring Americans with less than 50 days to go before President-elect Obama will be taking over on January 20.
He also admitted in the interview that he was not prepared for the war in Iraq. He tells Charlie Gibson the incorrect intelligence about Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction was his biggest regret of his presidency. If the intelligence report were correct, he said he might not have gone to war with Iraq.
His biggest regret has cost 4,000 soldiers’ lives, tens of thousands of Iraqis killed, tens of thousands injured critically and nearly half a trillion dollars spent for the war in Iraq. Will a simple sorry be enough?
