These are difficult times for many Americans and on this Thanksgiving, for some, it may be difficult to find a reason to be thankful.
Some of us have experienced job loss, some are facing the foreclosure of their homes for which they have worked and sacrificed, and many are mired in debt, while others have seen their retirement savings diminish in the face of the meltdown on Wall Street. Still, despite the hard times, I have faith that you will see through these tough times and know that there are better days ahead.
On this Thanksgiving, give thanks for that faith, and hold onto it. No matter what your religious orientation, I believe that faith allows us to bear the burden of these difficult times and renew our spirit and dedication toward creating a better world for our children.
So, today, as you gather with family and friends, or simply take time out to reflect, give thanks for all things, no matter how small or trivial they may seem. Your friends, family, health, jobs – if we just look closely we can all find a reason to be thankful.
