In Great Britain, experts say that the country is at risk of a shortage of sperm donors. Experts say reversing of confidentiality laws and donor limitation played a role.
Of one of the most interesting shortages that Great Britain is facing, it is the
shortage of sperm donors. Yes, the number of sperm donors is rapidly decreasing in the country of Great Britain.
Why?
Fertility experts explain that problems lie in the reversal of confidentiality laws. These laws are to keep the identities of the donors anonymous. This law was changed in 2005 which allowed the children to learn about their fathers.
In addition, there is the limit of how many women can use the same donor sperm.
According to Allan Pacey of the British Fertility Society, counties that have enough sperm are those that pay or those that retain the anonymity of the donors. He says that countries that remove anonymity are plagued with the shortages of sperm donors.
But, it is not just the change in laws.
So far, Britain does have a cap on sperm donations. Only ten babies can come from one donor.
Overall, it does not seem that many in Britain are willing to donate sperm.
