The parents couldn’t believe what their children were telling them about their chants on the school bus. The second and third graders on the bus were chanting “Assassinate Obama” and in some cases mentioned students who would do the deed.
Matthew Whoolery and his wife told this story to 2News TV in Boise, Idaho. They first heard about this story from their kids when they got off from the school bus.
Whoolery told 2News TV:
They just hadn't heard anything like this before...They were chanting on the bus, 'Assassinate Obama. Assassinate Obama.' Then adding in a name sometimes of a classmate on the bus, 'Assassinate Obama and Kate.
Whoolery doesn’t think the school is responsible for this but says parents should not be saying these things in front of their children.
Whoolery is not an Obama supporter but nevertheless is concerned about the word “assassinate”. He said it shouldn’t be part of the kids’ vocabulary.
He has contacted the school about this incident.
The school district superintendent has responded and has sent an email to all teachers, principals, and bus drivers and asked them to make sure that students show proper respect for elected officials.
The Whoolerys recently moved from the Middle East and said during their stay they didn’t know of a similar incident like this one and were surprised to hear it in the U.S.
