Donald Trump has been given the go ahead to build a golf resort on the east coast of Scotland. The resort will be north of Aberdeen and is expect to cost $1.56 billion before it is completed.
The Scottish government has overruled Aberdeen's council and has allowed Donald Trump to build a billion dollar golf resort on the coast of Scotland. Environmentalist had complained that the golf course would destroy a part of the coast that is "designated as being of special scientific interest."
The resort will feature 2 18-hole golf courses, a 5-star hotel, a golf academy and spa, 950 time-share vacation villas, and 950 holiday homes which will start at $1 million. It will all be connected by a road named Trump Boulevard.
As part of the deal, Trump will also have to build a primary school, shops, low-cost housing and starter homes.
Trump International Golf Links is celebrating this news. Trump mentions that this project is special to him because his mother was Scottish and that he is also expecting it to take golf in Scotland to new "levels of excellence."
Work will begin on the resort next year.
