With the US Elections taking place today, there other important races to pay attention to other than the US Presidential race.
Today, the next United States President should be elected. It will either be Democratic Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama or GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona. However, there are other campaign races that are worth paying attention two.
In regards to the social issue of same-sex marriage, the Proposition 8 campaign in California is something that is worth keeping an eye on. So far, this has been California’s costliest campaign. Proponents and opponents for Proposition 8 have poured in millions of dollars into their respective campaigns.
There are eleven governor races to pay attention to.
The races for the US House and US Senate are worth paying attention to as well. In regards to the US House races, the Democrats are gunning to win a bigger majority in the House.
Back in 2006, the Democrats won majority in Congress. However, the majority was a slim majority. So far, Democrats are hoping to capture over 15 seats belonging to members of the GOP.
According to Democratic Representative Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, Democratic candidates could get a boost of momentum from Obama. However, Hollen does remain cautious.
Overall, the Democrats are bracing itself for a big victory. At the same time the GOP is bracing itself for loss of seats.
The Democrats definitely do want that bigger House majority.
