The Montreal radio DJs who fooled Governor Sarah Palin with a prank phone call told CBS that among all the people they fooled, Palin was the only one who was “as gullible as Britney Spears."
The “Masked Avengers” Marc-Antoine Audette and Sébastien Trudel talked on Monday with
CBS’s Harry Smith about their
prank call to Sarah Palin.
Smith asked them whether Palin was aware of the call, to which Trudel replied:
"She was as gullible as Brittany Spears...There are only two people that we've pranked that never caught on that it was a joke and that we had to explain it to them at the end -- Sarah Palin and Britney Spears...And Brittany Spears could not ever be president of the United States, but Sarah Palin could."
Audette impersonated French President Sarkozy in the prank call.
Trudel was surprised and disturbed they were allowed to talk to Palin that easily.
"It's pretty disturbing to see that idiots like us can go through to a vice-presidential candidate...Two stupid comedians with a bad French accent."
The duo said they initially called the Alaskan government and from there they were able to get closer and closer to the Palin campaign, who didn’t know the name of the French President and asked them to spell his name.
When the Masked Avengers pranked others like Paul McCartney and Bill Gates, it took them months to reach them, but with Palin and Britney Spears it took them just days to contact them directly.
