Reluctant Groom Sets Wedding Room Ablaze

By M Dee Dubroff     Oct 30, 2008 in Lifestyle
Misunderstanding the words of that old song, “I Don’t Want to Set The World on Fire, I Just Want to Start a Flame in Your Heart,” this reluctant groom set fire to the hotel where he was to marry. Could the man be…hesitant to make a commitment?
We’ve all heard about walking through fire out of love and devotion, but for this Tokyo man it would seem the better of two options, the other being matrimony! According to news sources, Tatsuhiko Kawata, aged 39, had gone along with wedding plans until the very last minute, when the memory of already having one wife finally broke through to his area of recall (rear-end).
He told police:
"I thought if I set a fire I wouldn't have to go through with the wedding.”
Guests at the resort hotel in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo, were evacuated and no one was injured when he set the fire in the early hours of the day he was to marry before 80 wedding guests. He’s in jail now, but probably better off considering the punishment that might be handed out to him, should his fiancé and disappointed others somehow manage to slip between the bars of his jail cell.
Go figure.
