Police have been searching for the 7-year-old nephew of Jennifer Hudson since Friday. Julian King was reported missing, as authorities searched for a suburban. This morning, the body of a young black boy was found in an SUV.
Police have not confirmed the identity of a young black boy found in an SUV this morning and they are refusing to comment. However, there is some speculation that it could possibly be that of Julian King, the son of Jennifer Hudson's sister, who has been missing since Friday.
Police issued an Amber Alert last week following the shooting death of Hudson's mother and brother, which was initially reported by Digital Journal's Carolyn E. Price.
A suspect was later arrested in the case, William Balfour. Balfour was the husband of Jennifer's sister, Julia Hudson.
A news report by the AP is not confirming this morning's find as that of little Julian. Only that it was a young black boy found in an SUV.
The 1994 Suburban with Illinois plates X584859 found this morning was the vehicle at the center of the search.
Police searching for Jennifer Hudson's missing 7-year-old nephew found the body of a young black boy in an SUV Monday.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office and Chicago Police Department sent officials to the scene of a white SUV on the city's West Side Monday. Police refused to comment.
Television footage showed police vehicles escorting a flatbed tow truck as it took the SUV away from the scene.
Jennifer Hudson has issued a $100,000 reward for Julian's safe return.
[UPDATE] Although police have not identified the young boy found in the Chevy Suburban earlier this morning that was confirmed as the vehicle at the center of the Amber Alert for Jennifer Hudson's newphew as Julian King, a recent report stated:
Law enforcement sources said that the boy was shot multiple times in the back of the vehicle. Police are testing the clothing of a man in custody for gunshot residue.
A news conference is expected at around 4 pm Chicago time. The Hudson family were expected at the Medical Examiner's office some time this afternoon to identify the body.
This is a developing story.
[UPDATE #2] The body of the young boy has been confirmed to be that of 7-year-old Julian King, according to a news report:
Police Supt. Jody Weis says the body found on Chicago's West Side is that of 7-year-old Julian King. The identity of the body also was confirmed this afternoon by the Cook County medical examiner's office, where an autopsy will be done Tuesday.
Actress-singer Jennifer Hudson and three other relatives went to the office and identified the body, authorities said.
