According to sources, there could be escalating tensions from within the McCain campaign between aids of GOP Presidential nominee John McCain and VP running-mate Sarah Palin.
It is not news that GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona and his running-mate Alaska Governor Palin disagree on several things. Most of those things are in regards to political policy. One example would be the issue of gay rights. In several states, the topic of gay-marriage is indeed a hot one.
One example would be California where proponents and opponents of Proposition 8 are pouring in outrageous sums of money in that campaign. Should Proposition 8 be signed into law, a ban on same-sex marriages would be put into the California State Constitution.
So far, McCain opposes a federal ban on gay marriage and feels it should be left to the states. However, Palin feels otherwise.
But, this story is not about same-sex marriage.
Right now, in a little over a week, the next United States President will be elected. It will either be McCain for the GOP or Senator Barack Obama of Illinois for the Democrats. The atmosphere of the elections is getting tense.
However, it seems that the tensions are more heated within the McCain campaign. According to sources, it seems that tensions are high between Palin and aides to McCain for the most part.
The tensions are at the point where it’s getting out to the public.
So far, it seems that several aides have given the implication that they are extremely irritated with Palin’s actions. They have given the suggestion that Palin is going “renegade.”
If that is the case, Palin could be the maverick of the McCain campaign. But, nothing is for certain and nothing is concrete for the most part. Well, not yet.
So far, some sources of the campaign contemplate if Palin is going off-message on purpose or not. One source feels that Palin gives the impression that she cares more about herself than the campaign.
She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone,” said one aide to McCain. The aide added that Palin has no trusting relationships with anybody.
The aide had another interesting thing to say: “Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.”
Palin’s aides came to her defense. But it seems that some of Palin’s aides are agreeing with McCain’s aides.
Though this looks to be big, the notion of the VP running-mate clashing with the presidential candidate is nothing new. This has happened several times. The notion is Palin and McCain clashing is nothing new.
This is not the first time a VP running-mate will clash with the presidential candidate. However, it will not be the last time. No political party is immune to that. It will happen within the GOP, Democrats, Green, Libertarians, etc.
We can expect to see the same thing come 2012, 2016, 2020, etc.
Overall, while this can be considered major, it is nothing uncommon.
