article imageUK Postman is Caught Wearing A Red Thong And A String Of Missing Post

By Michelle Duffy     Oct 19, 2008 in Crime
A cunning and rather kinky British postman was caught with his pants down recently. If they had been is own undies it wouldn't have been so bad, but what he happened to be wearing was a ladies thong
Matthew Furness, a 35 year old Royal Mail postman was caught wearing the skimpy ladies undergarment recently, yet the story of his peculiar fetish did not stop there. His crimes became more serious and more apparent when it was revealed that he had been "intercepting" post, and lots of it, hoping to come across particular ladies underwear.
Yet how does one catch someone with this rather intimate fetish, not unless that person is parading their wears around in public? Well, Mr Furness was caught quite unsuspected when he was discovered to have been on the same postal duty when certain delicate items were known to have gone missing in the post.
The packages which had been described as those of a "female nature" were found to have disappeared when those people who expecting the items to be delivered complained that they had not shown up.
The plot thickened when a package containing a complete set of ladies underwear was placed in the back of his postal van. The package had been cunningly "planted" by bosses at the postal department to try and catch Furness in the act.
As soon as the package was found in the van belonging to Furness, he was immediately called in to be questioned over previous disappearing parcels.
Naturally, an embarrassing crime which was hotly denied by Furness, the police were in no doubt that Furness was behind the thefts. Surprisingly, the police, during their questioning, strip searched Furness for more evidence and were even more surprised to find him wearing a ladies thong under his Royal Mail uniform. It was the very item of underwear which had been planted in his van earlier.
Appearing in court later, he admitted to having a fetish with women's underwear. Thankfully, he told the court, he had felt much better after he had discussed the problem with his closest friends. Unfortunately for Furness, the court did not share the same sympathy for his crimes.
The criminal was caught with his pants down close to Christmas last year in the picturesque seaside town of Weymouth in Dorest, in the UK.
For the prosecution acting on behalf of the Royal Mail, Mr Bob Booker told the press,
"The defendant worked as a postman when we suspected some items had been stolen or gone missing from the office. We carried out surveillance and from that saw he had taken a package we had planted which contained lady's underwear. The items that had previously been taken were of a female nature so we were guided as to what might work to catch him. As a result we asked him to come in and he was initially ambivalent and didn't want to admit what he had done for obvious reasons of embarrassment. He wasn't prepared to co-operate with us over a search of his own person so we asked the police to come and intervene as they had more powers. He was searched by an officer who discovered he was actually wearing the lady's thong - this was on the day he stole the planted package. He then made full admissions that he had take the bra and thong as well as the previous items."
Now ex postman Mr Furness had admitted to two charges of stealing at a hearing in the past. Speaking on his behalf Ian Brazier informed the court that his client was now going through a divorce because of the problem. He said,
"My client has already suffered as a result of the publicity that surrounds this case. It is now out there and he feels as a result he can now talk about it which must have had a very positive effect on him."
In court, Mr Furness told the judge,
"My friends have helped me as I am now able to talk to them and I realised that I am not the only person who has gone through something like this and it is more common than you think."
Mr Furness was ordered to pay £250 and given a two year conditional discharge.
