In another twist of events in the case of Caylee Anthony, a statement made on behalf of Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, received some harsh criticism from the attorney himself. And who was on the receiving end was none other than CNN.
In what seems like more of a three ring circus of ever changing acts, another incident occurred in the case involving Caylee Anthony, the 2-year-old who went missing back in June of this year but that was not reported by her own mother, Casey Anthony, 22.
From a
smell that alerted cadaver dogs to what was a possible dead body in the trunk of Casey's car as Casey's own mother stated in the 911 call; Casey's arrest, release, rearrest; to a leaked news story about a dress that was found. Now, just a few days following her indictment for murder, a spokesperson on her own defense team was recorded during a television interview saying:
"It's very difficult," [Todd] Black said in the TV interview. "This is a serious case involving not just the loss of the life of this little girl, but the loss of whatever is going to happen with Casey Anthony."
A statement that has caused lead defense attorney, Jose Baez to backtrack for his team. Baez released a statement saying "Unfortunately what they distributed was completely taken out of context. The words used by Mr. Black were referencing the comments of another guest." (see PDF version of statement
here).
Jose Baez said in the faxed statement, identifying one major news source as the lead culprit in the twisted statement from Black, as a "fraud" and that they " stooped to the lowest of low." He was also reported, in a
FOX news article, to have said he doesn't believe Caylee to be dead.
Earlier this month, Casey
requested to join in the search for her missing daughter, a request that was allowed by the judge only a few days ago.
Anthony was
indicted and is currently in jail for first-degree murder, manslaughter and several other charges in the case of little Caylee Anthony, the Florida toddler who
disappeared in early June of this year. She has
plead "Not Guilty" and is set to appear in court sometime around November 7, although the official date has not been released.
Search teams from EquuSearch will resume
searching for Caylee on November 8.
