Of all the ways to advertise a political campaign, one of the most creative ways to advertise is through a video game. This is definitely thinking outside of the box.
So far, the 2008 United States Presidential campaign has been a very interesting one. Both the Democratic and GOP primaries have been very interesting to say the least. The Democratic primary was a heated contest between Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and Senator Hillary Clinton of New York.
At the end, it was Obama that had ended up as the Democratic nominee. For those that have been keeping up with the general US Presidential race, one could see that the Obama campaign has been drawing in several voting groups. Also, there have been creative ways to advertise one’s campaign.
One of the most creative ways was to take full advantage of the digital age that we live in. The Obama campaign has taken full advantage of the resources that the Internet has to offer.
But it does not stop there.
In the latest entry on the CBS Horserace blog, it has been revealed that the Obama campaign has found a very creative way to advertise the campaign. The McCain campaign may want to take note in what the Obama campaign is doing.
One could say that this is one way to think outside of the box.
So far, it has been revealed that the Obama campaign has paid for an in-game ad for Electronic Art’s racing game “Burnout Paradise” for the Xbox 360. The thought of this idea has created a lot of buzz.
It was originally a rumor; but, it was confirmed.
According to Holly Rockwood, an executive at EA, the Obama campaign has paid for the in-game advertising.
I can confirm that the Obama campaign has paid for in-game advertising in Burnout,” Rockwood explains. She compares in-game ads to those on print, radio, and TV. Rockwood finishes with by saying: “Like political spots on the television networks, these ads do not reflect the political policies of EA or the opinions of its development teams.”
For those that plan to buy Burnout Paradise, expect to see the Obama ad. In short, this is one creative and original way to promote a presidential campaign. While this is creative, it is unknown on how much effect this ad will have.
Still, one has to admit that this is pretty original.
