Barack Obama thanked John McCain for telling his supporters to “be respectful” and avoiding racial, hate-filled epithets.
John McCain told his supporters in a town hall meeting in Minnesota to be respectful towards Obama and that he is not a terrorist or Arab like some had said. He told them to conduct a respectful campaign from now on.

Obama thanked McCain for his comments yesterday at a political rally in Philadelphia.

Obama told his supporters in Philadelphia:
I want to acknowledge that Sen. McCain tried to tone down the rhetoric yesterday, and I appreciated his reminder that we can disagree while still being respectful of each other. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again - Sen. McCain has served this country with honor, and he deserves our thanks for that.

A woman supporter for McCain told him at the town hall meeting that she cannot trust Obama because he was an Arab. But McCain took the microphone from her right away and told her he is not an Arab.

“He’s a decent family man — citizen — that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues.”

Also during the last week, at one of the rallies where Palin called Obama being friendly with a terrorist. One of the audience members shouted “kill him”. The Secret Service is investigating the incident.

Since then, many people, including Conservatives, urged McCain to refrain from this hateful campaign and focus on the pressing issues of the nation.

It will be interesting to see what the McCain campaign will talk about until Nov. 4.
