An elderly man shot his wife in her hospital bed Friday before turning the gun on himself. He is now listed in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune., New Jersey.
The shooting took place at
Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey. Police say that the shooting appears to be a mercy killing of the 87-year-old woman. Her 88-year-old husband shot himself in the head.
The hospital was lockdowned until officials determined that other patients, vistors and staff members were not in danger. The lockdown last 10 minutes.
