Absentee ballots were mailed to 300 voters in Rensselaer County, New York with Barack Obama's last name misspelled. On the ballots, his last name is printed as "Osama". Election officials on either side say this was an honest, typographical mistake.
Rensselaer County - On a few hundred absentee ballots that were mailed out this week, Barack Obama's name is printed as "Barack Osama". This mistake is causing an embarrassment for the county, and election officials all say this was an honest mistake innocently done.

Republican commissioner Lary Bugbee admits that despite the staff members whose job is to proof them, this mistake got through.

Edward McDonough, the Democratic commissioner said that usually they catch most everything and apologizes for this 'terrible mistake'.

The 300 ballots that were sent out, went to voters in Brunswick, Nassau, Sand Lake, Schaghticoke and Schodack. So far, only three voters have caught the mistake and called about the ballots. The voters will all get new, corrected ballots sent to them to replace those with the misspelling.

A resident of Sand Lake, is a bit skeptical that this was a mistake.
''It's a little suspicious and at least grossly incompetent,'' the voter said. "If I crossed out the name and wrote in the right spelling my ballot would be invalid."

The real question is, was this a Freudian slip, intentionally done or an 'honest mistake innocently done'? There's bound to be many opinions, however one pol pointed out that the letters 's' and 'b' are not exactly keyboard neighbors.
