A group of mummies is on the move in Mexico and this one is expecting to bring in over 300,000 viewers. All the way from a museum in Guanajuato, the traveling corpses are fascinating Monterrey residents. They will remain on display for two months.
Sure, Mexicans have celebrated their dead ancestors with unique celebration and even skulls made of sugar during the annual Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. But this fascination and celebratory status associated with corpses has taken a unique turn for some 100-year-old bodies traveling around the country.

Fifteen female and eight male bodies enclosed in glass cases were marched down the streets on display in Monterrey, Mexico as interested onlookers lined the streets. They are currently on display in the city and will be there until December 28. As explained by the SF Gate, the troupe of dead-heads is anything but unlively:

Government officials discovered the mummies in the late 19th century when they dug up bodies from Guanajuato's Santa Paola cemetery because the families of the dead couldn't pay a grave tax.

The mountainous region's dry climate had created the perfect conditions to inadvertently mummify the corpses, and the bodies were eventually put on display at a local museum.

The collection is believed to be the largest in the Western Hemisphere. And the 23 corpses and head in Monterrey are the largest group from the museum to ever hit the road
.
The mummified remains were scheduled to appear during the Sunday festivities at Monterrey's Santa Lucia Festival but due to high humidity, the exhibition was delayed for a couple of days.

Did I mention the head that is part of the entourage?
