The second annual Blog Action Day will feature thousands of bloggers, podcasters and videocasters talking about poverty and raising money for organizations that fight poverty.
Last year, the first Blog Action Day focused on the environment; more than 20,000 blogs participated.
On October 15, 2008 participating bloggers will write about poverty issues, and they will also donate all earnings on that day to poverty organizations.
Any blogger can register their blogs at
blogactionday.org. Many well-known blogs are already registered, they include problogger.net, venturebeat.com and torrentfreak.com.
It doesn't cost anything to register and the fact that thousands of blogs will be discussing poverty will help to raise world-wide awareness of this important issue. As they say on the Blog Action Day website:
Out of this discussion naturally flow actions, advice, ideas, plans, and empowerment. In 2007 on the theme of the Environment, we saw bloggers running environmental experiments, detailing innovative ideas on creating sustainable practices and focusing audience’s attentions on organizations and companies promoting green agendas
