A mother allowing students at an elementary school to touch a dead bat may not get "Good Mom Of The Year" this year. The woman's actions put 90 children at risk for rabies.
The dead bat had rabies. The woman took the diseased animal to 5 classrooms for a presentation. She then offered each child her touched the diseased animal a sanitary wipe.
Each of those children are now being subjected to six shots of anti-rabies vaccine.
Officials at
Stevensville Elementary School have stated that liability insurance will pay $70,000 for the shots. The final tally though for all of the students could easily pass $150,000.
The school has since changed their visitors policy. Now visitors must obtain a pass at the office. Chances are bats and batty mothers will not get a pass.
