Tonight's Debate Could Be McCain's 'Barbecue'

In preparation of tonight’s second United States Presidential debate set in Nashville, Tennessee, the Democrats are vigorously lowering their expectations.

Tonight will be the second United States Presidential debate between GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona and Democratic Senator Barack Obama of Illinois. This will be a town-hall style debate in Nashville, Tennessee. You can view it live on CNN or CNN.com. For those that want to actively blog and comment online on whatever outlet you want, I would suggest watching it online. Then again, the information came out a few minutes faster on TV. Anyway, the first US Presidential debate was “civil” and lukewarm at best. Obama and McCain took jabs at each other; but, neither had dealt the other the devastating knockout blow. The one and only VP debate between McCain running-mate Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Obama running-mate Senator Joe Biden of Delaware was considered to be more entertaining and slightly more heated than the presidential debate. However, neither Palin nor McCain dealt the other a critical blow. Palin did more than hold her own. However, it's expected that the outcome of tonight’s debate is in McCain’s favor. This debate is in a town-hall meeting format. Both Republicans and Democrats consider McCain to be the master of the town-hall style debate. Because of this, Democrats are lowering their expectations tonight. Right now, the Democrats are preparing for the most part. Perhaps this will be more interesting and heated than the first one. There is the strong possibility that McCain can score a knock out blow or two to Obama. So far, the Democrats are hyping up McCain’s ability to do extremely well in town-hall style debates. This is McCain’s chance to do serious damage to Obama’s campaign. At the same time, this tactic could possibly explode in the faces of the Democrats. In a nutshell, Obama is in McCain’s backyard in this one. Obama will have to tread very carefully. And McCain will have to use his “backyard” to his advantage. This debate could very well be McCain’s BBQ. That means, McCain has the home field advantage.
