Resembling an old episode from Seinfeld, a postal employee from the town where the Ford assembly line was born has been accused of stealing thousands of pieces of mail that were discovered later in a storage unit. Read on, but don’t expect any deliverie
According to
news sources, Jill Hull, a former postal worker, has been charged with stealing thousands of pieces of mail that she had kept in a storage unit northwest of Detroit. Authorities have recovered more than 9,000 pieces of mail, some with postmarks dating back to 2005, from a storage unit in Fowlerville. The postal worker admitted to the dastardly deed, stating that she stored the mail because she couldn’t deliver it on time.
The case greatly resembles a Seinfeld episode from 1996 when Newman (Wayne King) stored mail in Jerry Seinfeld’s storage unit instead of delivering it. It is not known if Hull, who worked for the Postal Service in the Howell area for 3 1/2 years, knew about this episode and was influenced by it. She did quit her job in August, about three weeks before the mail was discovered.
One can only wonder if in this case, art really did imitate life. Perhaps she just yearned to open up the storage unit and “experience” the mail crashing down on her.
Who can say?
Not even Jerry Seinfeld knows.
