New Report Says Illegal Immigration Into U.S. Rapidly Declining

It would seem that immigration may not be a strong topic to debate on in the US Presidential race between Democratic Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona. Immigration is one of the balancing acts that McCain has to juggle. Of course immigration would be a topic between McCain and Obama. However, it would seem that the topic of immigration might slowly lose its appeal.

Earlier today, the Pew Hispanic Center had released a report. In this report, there are less people trying to enter this country through illegal means. Also, there are less people in this country that are living illegally.

Now, there are more people coming here legally than illegally.

According to experts, the drop in illegal immigration is cited by a combination to the current state of the United States economy and an increase of law enforcement. In short, many are thinking twice. With this combination, it is a very long, difficult, and highly dangerous trip to cross the border. They put a lot at stake; yet, they get very little in return.

Overall, that would surely deter many people from wanting to enter illegally. There are reports that remittances from the United States is at a very big decline. In short, there are far less people getting into the United States via illegal means.

What it sums down to is that tougher crackdowns and the current state of the country’s economy means less people are entering through illegal means.

When Obama and McCain do debate on immigration, which one will cite this report? That’s if this report is cited at all.

Overall, many are thinking carefully and thinking twice before taking the long and dangerous journey to illegally enter the United States. One could say that the topic of immigration would be a minor concern at best in the next few years, or not.
