The controversy between Democratic Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama and Reverend Jeremiah Wright is coming back in the form of a new anti-Obama ad.
It has been months since we had heard anything out of Reverend Jeremiah Wright ever since the controversy between him and Democratic Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois. During the Democratic race, the Wright controversy was valuable ammo for the campaign of then Democratic hopeful and co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York. While the Wright controversy had caused the Obama campaign sizable damage, it managed to recover and regenerate from the damage.
Since then, we had not heard much about Reverend Wright. Wright is known for his “God Damn America” sermon. The sermon had drawn much fire and backlash.
Now, it seems that we will be hearing more about Wright.
The Judicial Confirmation Network, a conservative group, has launched an
ad against Obama in key battleground states. This is the logical move as recent poll results show Obama having a lead over GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona in crucial battleground states.
The ad features ties between Obama and Wright. Also, the ad will tie Obama to Tony Rezko and William Ayers. The connection with Rezko was used as ammunition by Clinton during the race to the Democratic nomination.
Right now, Rezko is serving time on charges of wire fraud, mail fraud, corrupt solicitation, and money laundering.
Ayers is a former member of the Weathermen.
So far, it is said that over $500K has been spent on the ad. The ad is prepared to launch in the battleground states of Ohio and Michigan through Election Day.
So far, it is unknown what affect this is going to have on Obama’s candidacy. In the past, those connections did not prove to be effective ammo against Obama. Overall, we are now hearing of the Wright controversy once again.
However, it does look convenient as a recent poll shows Obama gaining ground over McCain in several crucial swing states.
How is this going to affect Obama? Is McCain going to weigh in on the ad?
