This is the first in a series of article about the Canadian Federal Election from my riding of Madawaska-Restigouche- Meet the Candidates
Canadians go to the polls on October 14, 2008. This is the first article in a series that will cover the election as it unfolds in my party of Madawaska-Restigouche,which is located in Northern New Brunswick. The electoral district of Madawaska--Restigouche (New Brunswick) has a population of 62,593 with 53,233 registered voters and 160 polling divisions. The riding covers an area of 10,721 km2
There are four candidates in the race and this first article will introduce them.
The candidate are in alphabetical order:
André Arpin (Green Party of Canada)
Jean-Claude JC D'Amours (Liberal Party of Canada)
Jean-Pierre Ouellet (Conservative Party of Canada)
Thérèse Tremblay-Philippe (New Democratic Party)
When the election was announced there were only two known candidates, the incumbent Liberal and the Conservative; the field has widened and this makes the race more exciting.
I am contacting all the candidates and asking them what they see as regional priorities and how these priorities mesh with their party's platform. Stay tuned.
