Google has updated its Toolbar version for Firefox. Previously only Internet Explorer had the latest toolbar loaded with new features, and now Firefox users can enjoy most of them with their own version.
To get the best features of any Google product, you have to use Internet Explorer, mainly because Google concentrates most of its efforts on the Microsoft browser. Internet Explorer is the dominant browser in the market, so Google focuses most of its products there first before experimenting elsewhere. Unfortunately many tech-savvy users prefer Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome browsers.

This Google Toolbar 5 for Firefox is a rapid improvement compared to the previous toolbar (version 4). The new toolbar for Firefox doesn't include the buttons “Word find”, “Browse by name”, “pop-up Blocker”, which are available only for IE version. But according to Ionut it is integrated into Firefox itself and Google doesn’t want to duplicate it by adding those three buttons in the toolbar.

The new features include:

• Custom buttons with gadget support
• Synchronized Toolbar settings
• Google Notebook integration
• Word find (IE only)
• Suggestions for navigation errors
• Improved AutoFill
• AutoLink
• Web History
• Browse by name (IE only)

The toolbar for Firefox has some advantages over the IE toolbar for IE:

• Open with Google Docs (FF only)
• Send with Gmail (FF only)
• Custom Layouts (FF only)

Here is a sample Google Toolbar with gadgets.

One of the features you will like is “Synchronized Toolbar settings”: by enabling synchronization, you can access all your favorite Google Toolbar buttons across multiple computers. This can save your AutoFill profiles, custom buttons, bookmarks, notes and other settings and you can access them wherever you go.

If you have Firefox 3, then this Google Toolbar 5 for Firefox is a must-have tool.
