Apple and the state of Massachusetts have reached an agreement that will give blind people easy access to iTunes and iTunes University programs.
Appleās iTunes and other desktop players may be good for music fans but for the blind they are completely unusable without outside help. Apple wants to change that by making its iTunes player and
iTunes U (whichprovides podcasts from various universities) easy for the blind to use.
Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley has been actively
working with Apple to bring about this change. The details of the agreement will be announced later today.
The new iTunes store and iTunes U for college students will provide software for the blind, so they can access all the links in the desktop player.
Apple currently has a number of
assistive software programs for its desktops and laptops, and most likely it will adopt some of those programs for the new iTunes store.
