As there has been no bailout deal reached in regards to the financial crisis, Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois had weighed in on the plan. Obama and McCain were present at the White House.
Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona had returned to Washington to discuss the $700 billion bailout plan with United States President George W. Bush. However, there has been criticism in regards to the plan.
So far, it has been revealed that House Republicans are not exactly warm to the ideal of the hefty bailout. It was only a few days ago that US Representative and former GOP hopeful Ron Paul of Texas gave a commentary on CNN. In his commentary, Paul said that the bailout will only make things much worse. Paul criticized policymakers for not learning their “lesson.”
Last night, Bush made a televised address from the White House urging Congress to approve the bailout proposal. However, no deal has been reached. Well, it has not been reached yet.
Connecticut Senator and former Democratic hopeful Chris Dodd had criticized McCain. According to Dodd, McCain did not give any indication of what support if any he was going to give certain plans.
After the meeting, Obama talked with CNN. He said that there is the urgency to reaching a solution for the crisis. However, Obama had expressed concerns that it would be difficult to reach a solution if he and McCain were at the negotiations.
Obama expressed concern about putting presidential politics into the negotiations. He said that it would only cause more problems. Therefore, Obama said that the attendance of himself and McCain at the negotiations would only cause problems.
