While there is an economic crisis all across the U.S., Sen. John McCain had a $5,500 makeup job from an American Idol makeup artist, just after suspending his campaign to work on fixing the country's financial bailout crisis.
Citing the Federal Election Commission as its source, US Magazine says that John McCain reportedly paid $5,583.43 for the makeup services from Tifanie White, a makeup artist for “American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance." This was on the same day, when McCain suspended his campaign to focus on the bailout issue in Washington.

Previously, McCain suspended his scheduled appearance on the “The Late Show with David Letterman” and told Letterman he was rushing to the airport to get back to Washington. But after the call, McCain instead went a few blocks away and turned up on Katie Couric’s CBS News program. He then had the $5,583.43 makeup service from Tifanie. Letterman’s reaction is posted above in the video.

Some months ago when Sen. John Edwards was running in the Democratic primaries, he had a series of $400 haircuts and the media and Republicans were ridiculing him. In an article about Edwards the Associated Press said said "Looking pretty is costing John Edwards' presidential campaign a lot of pennies." Talk show host Rush Limbaugh ridiculed Edwards and asked whether he would be the U.S.'s "first female president." The Republican National Committee also joined the fray and released a document calling Edwards a “pricey haircut enthusiast."

Now, McCain paid nearly 14 times that amount, so will the media and political pundits question him the way they did Edwards?
