Pennsylvania State Police say that a 5-year-old was burned on Sept. 13 after she was placed in a clothes dryer by her babysitter. Charges were filed yesterday against the 32-year old man who was left in charge of the child.
Towanda, PA - Nelson Lewis Chilson, Jr. was charged with two misdemeanors of the first degree: one count of simple assault and one count of endangering welfare of children yesterday for the incident which took place on September 13.
It is alleged that while he was watching the 5-year old, he placed the girl in a warm clothes dryer and turned it on, let it spin her around a couple of times. The child received burns to her lower back and upper buttocks.
Chilson will be given a summons and will answer to the charges at a later date.
The incident is being investigated by the PSP Towanda Criminal Investigation Unit and the Bradford County Children and Youth Services Agency.
