At the Theater J in Washington DC this week, comedienne Sandra Bernhard warned that VP pick Sarah Palin "should not come into Manhattan lest she be gang-raped by some of my big black brothers." Even worse? Wait till you see the fawning media reviews.
On a Saturday Night Live broadcast many years ago, SNL alum Kevin Nealon was in a skit called 'Comedy Killers' in which he opined that subjects like cancer were not funny. I have always considered rape foremost among them.
Even as a man with a sick sense of humor, I've never found anything remotely funny about rape. I can only imagine how horrific that subject is for women.
Well, MOST women.
Sandra Bernhard seems to revel in it. Just check out the above embedded video.
Even worse, many media outlets, including the Washington Post, have been fawning all over her rage-filled ranting.
Here's an example of it from the Blog of Theater J, via NewsBusters:
In fact, the play wears its politically VERY correct heart on its sleeve with its indictment of America as "A Man’s World, It’s a White Man’s World, It’s a F–ked Up White Man’s Racist World" and can only be suggested to be racist in its content if one is hell-bent on protecting White Folk for Sandra’s blistering indictment. When Sandra warns Sarah Palin not to come into Manhattan lest she get gang-raped by some of Sandra’s big black brothers, she’s being provocative, combative, humorous, and yes, let’s allow, disgusting.
The fact that the show has a few riffs like this does not — to my mind — make it a "disgusting show." there’s too much beauty, variety, vitality, and intelligence to label the entire show as "disgusting." I’ll agree with you that we produced this show because we did find it to be edgy — because we wanted to give right wing conservative Jews a good run for their money by being on the receiving end of some blistering indictments from Sandra.Does it go over the edge sometimes? On the gang-rape joke, yes. Sure. Not much else. It goes over the edge and then comes right back to the cutting edge. [Profanity editing is mine.]
The Washington Examiner's Barbara Mackay calls Bernhard's rant "enraged optimism" and the gang-rape joke "oddly but subtly positive."
The Washington Post's Tim Graham called the gang-rape comment "part of a much larger, nuanced piece" and the show itself "a rotating sprinkler that a spectator washes in most happily."
Mr. Graham seemingly neglected to mention that the sprinkler spray the Bernhard spectator washes in most happily is urine.
On that note, here are some more 'optimistically enraged' quotes from Bernhard's show:
"Whore."
"Turncoat B*tch."
"Uncle Woman," which is apparently a reference to Uncle Tom.
First, does anyone else catch the horrific stereotypical racial slur of a gang of black men raping a white woman?
I don't really see the humor in all this as Bernhard, Blogger J, the Washington Examiner and the Washington Post seem to. But I will say this: if this is what passes for humor on the Far Left, they are political and social idiots. How can something like this possibly help Obama?
It also means that they are very sick individuals who need serious psychological help, Bernhard first and foremost.
Who else but a psycho would find the humor in ANY woman being gang-raped?
womenforsarahpalin appear to agree with me on that point.
I think it's time to start taking their soapboxes away.
