Tuesday, police were called to a psychological rehabilitation facility where a woman was holding a knife to her throat threatening to kill herself. While police tried to calm her, she lunged at an officer and was tased to disarm and subdue her.
Corning, NY - Corning Police were
called to
Victory House, a state-run home for those suffering from mental illness, Tuesday evening. Once there, they found a woman resident holding a knife to her throat, threatening to harm herself.
As the police tried to calm her down, and talk her into putting the knife down, she lunged at an officer. The officer then drew his taser,
to disarm her and knock her away.
The unidentified woman was subdued and taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she is undergoing a psychological evaluation. She will not be charged.
Corning Police say they have used their taser guns fewer than a dozen times since they were purchased in April of 2004.
