Bristol's new shopping discrict, named Cabot Circus, has been taking shape over the last few years. Now it is nearing completion and it looks as though it's going to enhance the city centre's shopping area in an impressive and innovative way.
Cabot Circus, named after the Bristol explorer Cabot (who, according to a local legend, discovered America before Columbus) looks great. There is still some work to be done and everywhere you look you see builders busily building.
But it won't be long now until Bristol will be proprelled to the rank of the best English shopping cities. It will no doubt attract shopping afficionados from far and wide.
The whole project is a five hundred million pound investment and it shows. Fashionable department store Harvey Nichols will serve as the district's flagship retail presence. There will be a whole host of shops, department stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and so on.
There will also be a major cinema and an upmarket hotel. The once run-down area of Broadmead where Cabot Circus is located will be transformed and for Bristolians and visitors alike that can only be a good thing.
