Welcome players to the latest version of Spin That Guy. In this corner is old time favorite McCain and his lovely assistant Sarah Palin. In corner number two is the new model Barack Obama and his partner in this game Joe Biden.
This game has been around a long time. Played once every 4 years by whatever media is in vague at the time. Long ago it was in the newspapers this year that new fangled machine the computer is having a blast with the side line betting.
Now viewers, I am letting you in on a little secret neither side would like you to grasp, it's a game. Now, now I know what you're thinking, this could be life and death but in truth isn't life a big game of risk.
Shoot you caught me there, yes I said truth. I know that word is pretty much an
oxymoron in this
little slight of hand but listen my children and you shall hear....
I'm am to tell you about a little ride children, one that each and every one of you are being taken on. It's the same one that your pappy and grandma saw in their own time just with a little different
window dressing.
Once upon a time before the land of the United States a little thing called tax reared it's ugly head. The brave people of the new land said NO Way Jose (okay it was more like no way King George) WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE. These spirited people threw little tea socials and sharpened their spears. Long story short, the United States was born.
Same story, different
verse.
The latest version of the game includes the spinning of that good ole tyme religion, the tax
dollar. Each player in the fray has his own set of pie charts and snazzy ads telling you what you want to hear. There's more verses of course; little bits about how to get your younguns smarter, keep your granny
healthier, keep the guns firing. I could go on, there are endless verses to the game. It's a bit of a song
and dance.
In the end it all boils down to one deciding thing. Who do you
like? Which mug on the ad makes you smile a little broader? Which clown makes you swear a little louder?
It's a game children. High stakes of course, but it is still a game. In the end it takes a couple of years to know if you made the right choice and can continue to keep going on. Kind of like life.
